BloggeRhythms

Today marks the anniversary of the January 6, 2021 riots in the Capitol. The Democrats blamed the Republicans, Trump in particular. Trump and the Republicans blamed the Democrats. Ho-hum.

Coming back to the past few days venting here about the Biden miserable performance record in office, realization’s been reached as to why his ineptitude is particularly upsetting. It’s the inability to grasp his job retention when goals, objectives and standards aren’t delivered or met as promised. Never having the same kind of opportunity, not believing most others do, it’s hard to fathom that kind of a free ride for any employee, particularly one responsible for the management of the greatest nation on Earth.

At my own career outset, the shipping manager level was reached rather quickly, soon hired to replace an existing employee who was moving over to sales. When the transferee proved unable to handle the task, the business owner suggested trading places. The one who’d failed at sales to reclaim the shipping role, while the  owner himself would provide training in the selling process for me. That opportunity to enter the commission sales arena was accepted without ever looking back in the future.

Many aspects of job performance expectations differ for commission salespeople versus most other types of occupation, the most challenging one also being the most important, compensation. While some form of minimal base salary or advance may exist, real income derives from one thing and one thing only, closed and delivered sales. Therefore, successful commission sales folks aren’t measured against some growth chart, department record or performance evaluation scale, job success comes from done deals only.

For myself, management production expectations mattered not, my own goals and objectives also existed, ordinarily income targeted and virtually always higher than tasked by superiors. As a result, should my own plan be maximized, management's  would certainly be exceeded. If, by some chance failure was realized, that shortfall met immediate correction. For management that would be employment termination, for myself, job resignation. And that’s where the inability to understand is encountered regarding the presidential job performance.

Because, sales are generally the most critical task of any business operation. Without customers there is no income produced or as bluntly put by myself: “Until somebody sells something, nothing happens.” Thus, failed job performance for any reason along with job retention is difficult, if not impossible, for one like myself  to grasp. Salespeople cannot fall short of managerial goals and make a speech, thereby retaining employment. Whereas businesses require income, missed goals have a crippling effect. As a result, one’s failing to meet sales objectives are ordinarily quickly replaced with others assumed superior at those tasks. There is no opportunity for excuse, justification or finger-pointing elsewhere, successful managements can’t afford to provide those kinds of  luxuries.

So, having that kind of personal background and goal-oriented perspective of job expectation, Biden’s complete and utter performance failure along with employment retention are hard to grasp. Because, were he to be measured against objectives as are most employees this writer’s encountered professionally, he’d be working elsewhere in a heartbeat, if at all.

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
