BloggeRhythms

Watching the president and those around him at present, brings me back again to the question of what would happen to these people if they were in a real business, or possessed some sense of responsibility? Their objective continues to be avoiding blame for mistakes or better yet, finding a way to shift the onus to the other guy whomever that may be in particular failures.

My own career resulted in significant success, both individually and in a managerial role. Always involved in sales, the rules for job protection were quite simple. Customers either bought what was being sold to them or they didn’t, case closed. And if they bought, customer satisfaction ruled supreme, whereas dissatisfied buyers either returned what they’d purchased or found some other way to get their money back. As a personal matter, whatever business I’d closed went south with broken deals, and my end was a total loss upon the return.

So, for myself, or when managing or indoctrinating others, two major criteria ruled overall. Complete and absolute product knowledge reigned supreme along with enough operational understanding to be certain that whatever was promised to customers could be delivered exactly as, or in a superior manner to, whatever had been “sold.”

As a practical matter, no overriding desire to satisfy or please the largest number of prospects existed nor did a yearning to be admired for outstanding integrity. The objective was to close as many deals as possible and earn the biggest pile of bucks. So, if the product wasn’t understood, fabrications existed in sales presentations or customers were dissatisfied in any way at all, I was the guy who lost the deal when it blew up and every invested element of my intelligence, time and effort when down the chute with it. And that’s pretty much how the real world works for most truly employed folks. They work their patch, sell their crop, bank the bucks and move on.

But these politician guys come from some other kind of planet. They sell 24/7/365 without seeming to know a farthing about what’s on their shelves. When asked if this or that or anything else can be accomplished by their plan, party or program the reply is always “Yes, of course!” “And not only that,” they’ll say, “We’re a thousand times better than the other guy, no problem.” Whether that’s true or not.

But, when the time comes to deliver, the politicians who sold falsities don’t ever seem to be around . And if they are by chance, their excuses for non-performance are delivered in triple-talk.

So, what I’d like to find out today is that since nothing promised in the current presidential sale has come even close to being delivered, where can we return the goods and how soon can we have our political capital back?

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
