BloggeRhythms

It seems that yesterday’s news conference may not have been enough to convince some of even the strongest supporters that the president will ever regain control of the nation’s direction and control. While a record may have been set for length, nothing much else was accomplished. However, on the same day, significant adverse commentary and poll results appeared across the media.

Nick Koutsobinas headlined his column @newsmax.com: “MSNBC's Scarborough: Biden's 'Leftist' Governing Has 'Failed”

The text says: “Joe Scarborough, co-host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," decried on Wednesday President Joe Biden for governing as a "leftist" after being elected as a moderate.

“According to a Breitbart report, Scarborough said that "one of the great mysteries for historians — they're going to look back and say, how is it that this guy ran against a dozen or so progressives?"

"He was the only moderate," Scarborough said of the president. "He ran as a moderate. He won as a moderate. Every single progressive got rejected. Like, those debates were crazy. They were talking about reimplementing busing. They were so far left. They wanted to give health care to illegal immigrants. Like, it was so — come across the border, and we'll give you health care. It was so wildly out of the mainstream of where about 80% of Americans are."

“Scarborough maintained that "Biden ran as a moderate. Biden won as a moderate. Biden decided, and his people around him, I guess, decided, that he was going to govern as a leftist. It has failed miserably in the expectations game."

The host further added that Biden's "attempts to be progressive have ended up failing miserably."

The majority of readers once again provide a strong sense of how aware voters are as to precisely what the political landscape is across the country, regardless of how political commentator’s attempt to influence the discussion. Up until recent days ago, Scarborough was still strongly supporting every presidential thought and action, but is now seemingly trying to get ahead of growing dissatisfaction across the leftist electorate. The present switch is certainly not lost among the readership.

Reader roger wrote: “Scarborough is seeing a significant change in the political landscape, and is trying to remain an important part of it, he will fail, but he will keep trying.”

Flatwater summed the nation’s current situation up neatly:

Out of control joe,

covid out of control
inflation out of control
fuel prices out of control
grocery shortages out of control
russia out of control
china out of control
north korea out of control
iran out of control
hope you 80 million are happy with your choice”

As far as poll results are concerned, according to newsmax.com: “Biden Approval Hits New Low at One Year Mark: AP-NORC Poll”

“President Joe Biden ends his first year in the White House with a clear majority of Americans for the first time disapproving of his handling of the presidency in the face of an unrelenting pandemic and roaring inflation, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

“More Americans disapprove than approve of how Biden is handling his job as president, 56% to 43%. As of now, just 28% of Americans say they want Biden to run for re-election in 2024, including only 48% of Democrats.

“In July, 59% of Americans said they approved of Biden’s job performance in an AP-NORC poll.

“Just 45% say they approve of Biden's handling of COVID-19, down from 57% in December and from 66% in July 2021.

When Biden was asked at his news conference about his flagging popularity, he responded, “I don't believe the polls.”

Joyce Bowen, 61, of Knoxville, Tennessee pretty much summed up readers thoughts, saying: “Biden deserves credit for encouraging Americans to get vaccinated, but she expressed frustration about the administration's response to soaring inflation.

“The part-time cleaner at a public library said she and her older brother, who she helps support, have been eating less meat to offset rising grocery costs and intermittent spikes at the gas pump that have whittled the purchasing power of her $754 biweekly paycheck.”

Results show a “stark reversal from early in Biden's presidency.”

Another poll, AP-NORC, in July showed 59% of Americans saying they approved of Biden’s job performance overall. Today, just 45% say they approve of Biden's handling of COVID-19, down from 57% in December and from 66% in July 2021, while only 37% approve economic policies as inflation rose at its fastest pace in nearly 40 years last month, a 7% spike from last year.

Reader Joyce Bowen, 61, of Knoxville, Tennessee, said “Biden deserves credit for encouraging Americans to get vaccinated, but she expressed frustration about the administration's response to soaring inflation.

“The part-time cleaner at a public library said she and her older brother, who she helps support, have been eating less meat to offset rising grocery costs and intermittent spikes at the gas pump that have whittled the purchasing power of her $754 biweekly paycheck.

“It’s just hard to keep food on the table and gas in the tank,” said Bowen, who voted for Biden but said she'd prefer he didn't run again in 2024.”

Gary Cameron, 66, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, said the president’s verbal gaffes and age — at 79 Biden is the oldest U.S. president in history — don't give him confidence that Biden has the skill or energy to pull the country out of its malaise.

“Whenever he does a speech on television, in your mind, you’re thinking ‘God, is this guy even going to get through this speech?’” said Cameron, an independent who voted for Donald Trump in 2020. Just 16% think Biden's presidency has made the country more united; 43% think it's more divided.”

Harlan Epstein, of Cleveland, “didn't vote for Biden but was hopeful that the 46th president, who sold himself to American voters as a consensus builder, would govern from the ideological middle.

“But Epstein, an independent, said Biden’s push for a $2 trillion climate and social services spending bill and his effort to force larger employers to require their workers to get vaccinated or undergo regular testing have undercut Biden’s centrist reputation.

“He's got to tamp down his far-left wing and start focusing on moderate policies,” Epstein said.”

And then even NBC polling showed dismal results, as newsmax.com’s Jeffrey Rodack reports:

“One year into his presidency, many Americans have given President Joe Biden low marks for being competent and for having the ability to handle a crisis, a new NBC News poll reveals.

“Here are how the results of the survey, released Thursday, break down:

  • 51% gave him a “1” or a “2” on a 5-point scale on being competent and effective in office.
  • 52% gave him a “1” or “2” on being able to handle a crisis.
  • 53% gave him a “1” or “2” for uniting the country.
  • 44% approve of Biden’s handling of the coronavirus, while 53% disapprove.
  • 38% approve of the way he has handled the economy, while 60% disapprove.
  • 37% approve of Biden’s handling of U.S.-Russia relations, compared to 50% who disapprove.
  • 43% approve of Biden’s job performance, compared to 54% who disapprove. The president’s approval rating has dropped 10 points since April 2021, while his disapproval rating has increased by 15 points.
  • 5% say his presidency has been better than expected, while 36% say it has been worse than expected. And 59% says it has been just as expected.
  • 42% say the president is unwilling to compromise, compared to 23% who say he is too willing to compromise. About 27% say he has found the correct balance.

"This poll would have to be described as bleak, discouraging, and truly terrible," said Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies.”

In summary, while Biden may truly be sincere in his response that “I don't believe the polls,” the results are certainly representative of what voters genuinely think. Which having nothing to do at all with Iraq, is remindful of Saddam Hussein’s Minister of Information, Baghdad Bob, being carried out of a live TV show by US military forces still holding a microphone and telling his audience how Iraq was winning against the US.

Perhaps Biden faces the same quandary Bob did that "My information was correct, but my interpretations were not."

That’s it for today folks.

Adios.
