BloggeRhythms

Back when President Trump first ran against Bill Clinton’s wife, this site was one of a very, very few that gave him the slightest chance of winning. In fact, as election day approached, the mainstream media had already assumed a major landslide for her.

The possibility of a Trump upset posted here did not come from some outlandish wish or fervent dream, but instead from input gained through research each day, primarily across the web. At that time there were several quite well-informed websites, and two reliably accurate polls. Those sources along with items discovered while compiling data, provided substantiation for suggesting Trump might really have a chance.

As it turned out, one of the most dependable information sources were the reader’s comments following articles appearing on a host of websites, some sites major outlets, some not. However, quite often insight gained from commentary was considerably more indicative of voter preference than the published material itself. Particularly valuable were the thoughts of those living in Mid-America, considered by the coastal media in NY, LA, and the like to be "flyover country" and not worth their time. Boy were they wrong, and thus addition of appropriate commentary begins today.

Yesterday’s posting included information that: “Americans' political party preference during 2021 shifted from Democrat to Republican in the largest move since Gallup began regularly measuring party identification and leaning in 1991.

Now today, Charles Kim writes @newsmax.com: “ Republicans lead Democrats by 9 points in a generic congressional vote 48%-39% entering the midterm election year, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports polling.

“The same poll has President Joe Biden's approval rating under water, with 58% disapproving his performance since his inauguration a year ago Thursday.”

However, reader 282Mikado, provides what is the far more likely the real world expectation: “Factor in dead people and countless fraudulent mail-in ballots and the democrats win by landslide.”

On another subject, Kyle Morris headlined his column @foxnews.com/politics: “Sinema doubles down on filibuster support, dealing likely fatal blow to Dems' election bills

Mr. Morris writes: “A political action committee dedicated to helping elect to office female Democratic candidates who support allowing abortion says it will no longer endorse Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., over her opposition to a change in Senate rules.

“In a statement released Tuesday, Laphonza Butler, president of Emily's List, warned that Sinema may "find herself standing alone in the next election" should she not support efforts to change the chamber's rules so  Democrats can pass legislation to overhaul elections.

"Understanding that access to the ballot box and confidence in election results are critical to our work and our country, we have joined with many others to impress upon Sen. Sinema the importance of the pending voting rights legislation in the Senate," Butler stated. "So far those concerns have not been addressed."

"So, we want to make it clear: if Sen. Sinema can not support a path forward for the passage of this legislation, we believe she undermines the foundations of our democracy, her own path to victory and also the mission of EMILY's List, and we will be unable to endorse her moving forward," Butler added.

This is one of those situations where an article tells you one thing while the readers tell you quite another. According to the article, a major political action committee has threatened a senator with withdrawal of support if she continues on a path they believe “undermines the foundations of our democracy, her own path to victory and also the mission of EMILY's List, and we will be unable to endorse her moving forward."

But then, going further it’s found that the likely voters have a completely different view of what their senator is doing.

Reader johnadams1776712 writes: “Dems use the filibuster more than the GOP by far. It has been around for a long time and has promoted sanity in Congress. The very same people who are all for the removal of the filibuster are the very same people who used it and championed it. But now, suddenly, when it works against them it is a tool against democracy. Isn't it funny how dems think that only what they want to do is democracy? Especially, when you actually look at what they are trying to do it flies in the face of democracy?”

Reader CassiusKing399 posts: “Let's see how much Emily's List wants to change Senate rules after Republicans win back Congress and the White House.”

Ajokent1 adds: “ As an Arizona resident i dont care about Emily’s list and neither do most of our friends. She’s doing what she thinks is best for Az and the country as do we so she’s going to have more support in 2024 than in her 1st election to the Senate. Along with Manchin she’s proven herself to be independent. Veterans and senior citizens are going to start to look at her as a sincere politician not a phony like most.”

While so far, this one got 1005 “Likes,” scrolling through the entire list of commenters, there was not an Emily’s list supporter found in the bunch.

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
