BloggeRhythms

Slow day for news so far. However, a couple of story’s contain subtle indications regarding trends likely to effect the presidential election.

Zachary Mider writes @bloomberg.com that, “Behind a garden modeled on Monet's, Jeb Bush addressed a lawn-full of chief executives and hedge-fund managers at an East Hampton, New York, estate Saturday morning.”

Although those types of gatherings aren’t unusual during presidential campaigns, what had significant implications about this one was that “about half the attendees were Democrats.”

Kenneth Lipper, the money manager and registered Democrat who hosted the event, remarked "This guy sells well," after Bush left. Adding that, “Virtually the only one who left without writing a check, was a buck deer that wandered past the group assembled on the wooded grounds.”

Although not mentioned in the article, but a critical point, is that the attendees are the so-called “Wall Street types” ordinarily expected to support Bill Clinton’s wife wholeheartedly. And thus, this may be another indication of her fading attraction among knowledgeable voters and fund raising supporters.

As far as Bill’s wife herself is concerned, today’s update regards another occasion where she was caught in a typically hypocritical position.

According to dailymail.co.uk, “On Monday the Democratic presidential front-runner announced the details of her initiative to tackle climate change, calling it 'one of the most urgent threats of our time.'

“But shortly afterward, a videographer working with the conservative America Rising PAC spotted her at the private air terminal in Des Moines,” where the plane Bill’s wife boarded was a 19-seat Dassault model Falcon 900B private jet aircraft that burns 347 gallons of fuel per hour, and was made in France.

So, just after unveiling, “her presidential campaign's push to solve global warming through an aggressive carbon-cutting plan,” she walked up the plane's stairs while an aide held a giant black umbrella over her head to shield her from falling rain.

America Rising PAC communications director, Jeff Bechdel, told DailyMail.com: “Despite her campaign’s best efforts to rebrand her as a down-to-earth fighter for "everyday Americans, Hillary Clinton’s jet-setting ways are just further confirmation that she’s out of touch with the American people.”

And, what’s just as indicative of being out of touch is that, aside from the American people, she’s also out of touch with reality because “The environmental lobby is unanimous in its certainty that carbon emissions from human activities have caused the globe to warm in recent decades, even though raw thermometer data from around the world suggest it has been 18 years since the planet's temperature has ticked upward.”

So, today’s items seem to confirm the facts that while Bill’s wife is losing ground due to a growing preference for competitors such as Jeb Bush, her attraction’s also shrinking as a result of her own behavior. Both of which circumstances lead to the question: Mayor Bloomberg and Joe Biden, are either of you reading this?

That's it for today folks.

Adios
