BloggeRhythms 1/1/2013

Hope your New Year’s Eve was all you hoped for. Mayan was fine.

As far as today goes it’s still the same old, same old, in the news. No final fiscal cliff deal yet, however on the bright side, Hillary’s boo-boo was deemed to be not a life-threatening injury. So that means she’ll be able to testify before Congress and plans to do so, right after Hades freezes over.

In the meantime I found this article on Drudge from  Inside Politics by Stephen Dinan of The Washington Times who writes that, “The "fiscal cliff" deal that was designed to save money actually includes $330.3 billion in new spending over the next decade, according to the official estimate the Congressional Budget Office released Tuesday afternoon.”

Mr. Dinan notes that the “CBO said the bill contains about $25.1 billion in new cuts, but those are swamped by the new spending on extended unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless and other new refundable tax credits that President Obama fought for. Of those cuts, only $2 billion are scheduled to take effect in 2013.”

However, the item that really got my attention was the fact that “All told, the bill deepens the deficit by nearly $4 trillion over the next decade, when the new tax cuts and spending are combined.”

So what this all says to me is that after the hype, smoke, mirrors and absolutely total BS is sifted through, taxpayers are as always carrying the weight of all the useless liars in office. Which leads me to ask once again why government can’t work like the business world where losers are regularly fired for failed performance.

In that regard, even the NFL wasted no time upon the season ending when 7 coaches lost their jobs yesterday morning. Included in the lot were Lovie Smith despite a 10-6 record in 2012 and a nine-season tenure that included three playoff appearances and one Super Bowl trip. And then there was Norv Turner who went 59-43 since 2007 with the San Diego Chargers.

Additionally, according to Chris Strauss of USA TODAY Sports on-line, Jeffrey Lurie, Philadelphia Eagles owner said that Andy Reid "won the most games of any head coach in Eagles history and he is someone I respect greatly and will remain friends with for many years to come. But, it is time for the Eagles to move in a new direction. Coach Reid leaves us with a winning tradition that we can build upon. And we are very excited about the future."

So how come that even in football winning records themselves aren’t enough. Owners and fans want to get to the top and without Super Bowl wins coaches lose their jobs despite superior performance. Yet, in an area far more critical to citizen’s survival, where their own jobs and subsistence are at stake, voters will accept the worst dregs on earth and elect them to office. And were you to measure these same elected officials on personal accomplishment or merit they don’t even deserve to work in a carwash or road gangs digging trenches.

But, these folks do indeed get voted in and remain in office while the coaches with winning records in fact got fired. So, I guess maybe China's taken over our nation already…because it looks to me like everything here has somehow gone completely upside down.

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
