BloggeRhythms

Yesterday was another bad day all around for floundering leftists who embarrassed themselves once again by choosing to step-up their negative agenda.

One of the most blatant backfires was Rachel Maddow, nightly host of the The Rachel Maddow Show, on MSNBC. While actually managing to get part of a copy of Trump’s 2005 tax return, the 12 year old document had already been released by the White house.

Aside from being old news, one of those quickly grasping the inanity of the gaffe was none other than Jay Yarow, Executive Editor at sister station cnbc.com who headlined an article: “Op-Ed: Donald Trump just got a nice victory, thanks, of all people, to Rachel Maddow”

Mr. Yarrow wrote: “The 2005 tax return could have been an anomaly. Maybe Trump doesn't pay this much in taxes normally. Or, maybe he usually pays more. Who knows! Either way, this story has created the appearance that Trump does in fact make a lot of money, and he pays millions in taxes.

“For the next news cycle, we're likely to see this story dominate, giving Trump some breathing room as the media had been laser focused on the GOP health-care bill's flaws.”

The actual tax data referred to was found in an Associated Press item by Jill Colvin and Jeff Horwitz @hosted.ap.org, who reported that: “President Donald Trump earned $153 million and paid $36.5 million in income taxes in 2005, paying a roughly 25 percent effective tax rate.”

While the income numbers are impressive, underscoring his business acumen, he also proves to have paid higher rates than some of his most vociferous adversaries.

According to ctj.org/corporatetaxdodgers, MSNBC’s parent Comcast paid an effective average tax rate of 24%. In the same manner, Dave Boyer reported in The Washington Times on Friday, April 15, 2016 that “President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama paid more than $81,000 in taxes last year on reported adjusted gross income of $436,065, for an effective tax rate of 18.7 percent, according to tax returns released Friday afternoon by the White House.”

And for what it’s worth, even the avowed socialist Bernie Sanders paid only 13% according to his 2014 tax returns, as reported by Jim Hoft @thegatewaypundit.com.

Another one of those being proven absolutely wrong in their diatribes against Trump is his former rival for the Oval Office, who never seems to realize that in today’s technological age, all kinds of things said almost anywhere don’t ever go away. In her case particularly, being caught in recorded falsities is a very frequent occurrence.

Regarding falsities, Ian Hanchett recalled @breitbart.com that: “During the September 26, 2016 presidential debate, Democratic presidential nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speculated that one reason Donald Trump might not have released his tax returns is that “he doesn’t want the American people, all of you watching tonight, to know that he’s paid nothing in federal taxes.”

Clinton said, “So you’ve gotta ask yourself, why won’t he release his tax returns? And I think there may be a couple of reasons. First, maybe he’s not as rich as he says he is. Second, maybe he’s not as charitable as he claims to be. Third, we don’t know all of his business dealings, but we have been told, through investigative reporting that, he owes about $650 million to Wall Street and foreign banks. Or maybe he doesn’t want the American people, all of you watching tonight, to know that he’s paid nothing in federal taxes. Because the only years that anybody has ever seen, were a couple of years where he had to turn them over to state authorities when he was trying to get a casino license. And they showed he didn’t pay any federal income tax.”

In this case, if anyone still cares about her at all, perhaps they’ll ask her about her total misjudgement. Although that prospect seems doubtful at present.

In a similar happening regarding Democrat backfires, Madeleine Weast reported @FoxNews.com, today that: “Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) tweeted out a question late on Monday about people's experiences with Obamacare but did not get the response she was looking for.

“Last week Republicans released their new health care plan intended to replaced the Affordable Care Act. Democrats have been gearing up to fight back against the new plan and plan to make health care a 2018 mid-term election issue.

“Pelosi tweeted out a link to the White House website, asking her followers to share their experience with the Affordable Care Act.
“Nancy Pelosi tweeted: @POTUS wants to know about your experiences with #ACA. Share your stories about why we must #ProtectOurCare: https://goo.gl/vYMIg9
“Robert Schnaible responded: “@NancyPelosi @POTUS #ProtectOurCare My costs have sky rocketed under Obamacare. Out of pocket almost twice what paid pre-Ocare.
And then, the stream of miscues continued with an article @FoxNews.com regarding Fox News' Tucker Carlson saying last night in his opening monologue on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" that NBC deliberately leaked the infamous tape of President Trump making crude remarks about women in 2005 to scupper his presidential campaign last fall.

He then “contrasted the release of the tape, which was initially reported by the Washington Post, with MSNBC's constant reporting on purported ties between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.

“Carlson said that MSNBC had gone to "remarkable lengths" to keep the Trump-Russia story alive, despite there being "no evidence that Russia collaborated with Donald Trump or his campaign to win the election [and] no evidence that Russian propaganda swung a single vote away from Hillary Clinton.

"There’s merely innuendo and conspiracy-mongering and connecting probably irrelevant dots," he added.

According to sources at NBC, Carlson claimed, the tape of Trump's ribald conversation with "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush was leaked to the Post with the knowledge of NBC brass, including NBC News and MSNBC chairman Andrew Lack.

"NBC’s motive?" Carlson asked. "To derail the Trump campaign two days before a presidential debate."

Reflecting on the public outcry after the tape's release, which included calls by members of both parties for Trump to quit the race, Carlson asked, "What do you think played a bigger role in the 2016 race, the ‘Access Hollywood’ tape or the Russian government? Just because NBC’s effort failed and Donald Trump won anyway doesn’t mean it’s irrelevant.

"NBC News lied to the public to help destroy a politician they didn’t like," Carlson said. "We know that. We know they wouldn’t do it again, do we? Do we know they’re not doing it now?"

Thus, it’s clear as evidence contiually mounts that significant numbers of attempted smears and unfounded attacks not only misfire but come back to embarrass and defame their creators. Yet, the tactic remains unfettered and resolute among those on the left.

Which is an absolute confirmation in and of itself, that they have virtually nothing positive or worthwhile of their own to offer.

That's it for today folks.

Adios
