Got a very interesting slant on the probable real substance of voter feelings in Middle-America today from an article by Timothy H.J. Nerozzi @foxnews.com.

Mr. Nerozzi writes: “Outgoing Democratic Rep. Jim Cooper of Tennessee sat down for an interview with a local newspaper on Tuesday to give his thoughts on upcoming elections and the future of the Democratic Party in his state.

“Cooper's predictions were far from optimistic, as he said that the party is "facing extinction" in Tennessee and claimed that Democrats have no strategy to appeal to rural voters.

"As usual, Democrats are not alert to future dangers," Cooper lamented to the Nashville Scene. "The biggest danger we face in an off-year election after we won the White House is the 100-year trend toward the other party. Redistricting is small potatoes compared to that historical trend."

Cooper then got into the basis for his conclusions regarding the Democrat party. “Asked if he believed the Democrats would prove competitive in the long term, Cooper said that he hopes so, but "hope is not a strategy." Cooper criticized the management of the party in his state, and told the Scene that the Democrats in Tennessee needed a new direction.

"Their strategy is blind hope," Cooper said. "Many of the folks you’re probably listening to have probably never visited these counties. They’re not kin to these folks. Their best friends don’t live out there. I had the advantage of being born in Nashville but raised in Shelbyville."

"I always want to be available and helpful, but I plan on getting a job and being a productive citizen. It can’t be handed to you. You’ve got to study it and work at it and be good at it. And then we can put on some finishing touches. There are many people today who want this stuff handed to them, and life doesn’t work like that," Cooper said. "It’s important to make money. It’s important to be productive. It’s important to pay taxes. Work organizes life. I plan on working until the day I die, because work is fun, work is interesting, work is important."

In many respects, Cooper’s remarks regarding the absence of local voter knowledge among party leaders is remindful of Bill’s Clinton’s wife back on September 12, 2016 when Deroy Murdock headlined an article @nationalreview.com: “Leave it to Hillary Clinton to hammer almost 50 million citizens whom she aspires to govern.”

Murdock wrote: “You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables.’ Right?” Clinton declared Friday as Barbra Streisand and other self-congratulating guests tittered their approval at a $6 million Manhattan fundraiser. “They’re racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it.”

“Clinton’s remarks completely conform with the liberalism that she shares with top Democrats — from K Street to Sunset Boulevard.

“As they see it, hordes of the great unwashed live in “flyover country.” They are not educated or elegant enough to have reached Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, New York, or — the most elevated place of all — Washington, D.C. So, enlightened people like Hillary and her supporters must make decisions for these benighted souls. Thus, Washington should tell these people what to do, every day, all day long. These unsophisticated monsters need adult supervision and, by God, Hillary and her minions will provide it!”

Well, in a broad sense, Trump’s winning the election was a refutation of Bill’s wife’s beliefs in and of itself. But now, today, the comments following Mr. Nerozzi’s article  about congressman Cooper’s thoughts reflect how immensely wrong Clinton’s wife was regarding the intellect of “flyover” voters in general. A sampling follows:

Reader tornasunder wrote: “Reduced taxes, less government, no vaccine or mask mandates, beefed up law enforcement budgets, more prison construction, a secure southern border, removing vaccine waivers of liability, a strong military, and rejecting Critical Race Theory. The party that embraces these things gets my vote.”

This is just basic common sense and is morally sound. I would like to ask this Representative why so many in his party coddle those who "want stuff handed to them"??? It's not fair to the working taxpayer, but so many Dems continue with the unethical, unfair and unsound narrative that handing stuff to the non-worker somehow helps the WORKING middle class??? It's the left's whole ideology, and trust me, the middle class is sick of it.”

Scrolling through the remainder of reader’s thoughts produced similar results with virtually no support for the left at all. And although this particular reflection is certainly not “scientific” in any way regarding election expectation, it’s a very far cry from Bill Clinton’s wife’s classification of Middle-American voters as “ racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it.” In fact, there seems to be quite a bit of well-educated intellect amongst them if you ask me.

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
