Watching Fox And Friends Weekend briefly this morning, it was
mentioned that Trump had attained the lead in two major presidential polls. In
another, however, Bill Clinton’s wife was the winner.
A FOX News poll on Thursday, May 19th, showed Clinton at 42%, with
Trump ahead by three at 45%. Similarly, Rasmussen Reports poll resulted
in Clinton attaining 37%, while Trump outdid her again at 42%, for a lead of 5.
And then, as it turned out, the poll won by Bill’s wife was conducted by CBS
News/NY Times, which led to a discussion of the Times current ownership and
the fact that Clinton booster Carlos Slim, holds 16.8% of the company.
That led to some research on the subject, and due to the results of the
findings, will include today’s update on Bill Clinton’s wife.
Brent Scher @freebeacon.com/politics, reports that Slim, is a
“Mexican telecom tycoon whose net worth of nearly $80 billion makes him the
second richest man in the world. He became the top shareholder of the New
York Times last year “after he doubled his shares to take control of 16.8
percent of the company.”
Slim himself has contributed between $1,000,001 and $5,000,000 to the Clinton
Foundation, while his company “Telmex has contributed an additional grant
between $1,000,001 and $5,000,000 through its foundation.” He’s also “pledged
$100 million to the Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative, a
collaboration between the Clinton Foundation and Canadian mining tycoon Frank
Giustra.”
“In addition to the charitable giving, Hillary Clinton was paid between
$250,000 and $500,000 for a speech she gave to Slim’s Telmex Foundation.
“Slim was given an award for his philanthropic work by Clinton at the 2006
Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) annual meeting, which was presented to him by
actress Eva Longoria. He was honored again in 2012, when he was given the CGI
Global Citizen Award.”
Thus, there is certainly an obvious connection between Slim’s Times ownership
and a likely bias in the paper’s poll construction to favor Bill Clinton’s
wife. However, the situation apparently goes far deeper than that, as follows:
Mr. Scher writes: “Slim does not appear to be the only person tied to the
Times that has given money to the Clintons. Also on the Clinton
Foundation list of donors are James A. Kohlberg and Mark Thompson.
Kohlberg contributed between $50,001 and $100,000,
and Thompson contributed between $10,001 and $25,000.
“James A. Kohlberg is the name of a member of the New York Times’
board of directors, and Mark Thompson is the name of the president and CEO
of the New York Times Company.
“Other Times members that have participated in CGI events are
columnists Thomas Friedman (in both 2006 and 2010), Nicholas Kristof (in 2009,
2012, 2013, and 2014), and David Sheff (in 2014).
“Andrew Revkin, who left the Times in 2009 but still writes for
the publication, has participated in CGI events in 2010 and 2013. He was also
the keynote speaker for a CGI donor meeting on climate change in 2008. Bill
Clinton sat down with Revkin in 2007 to unveil a new initiative to fight climate
change.”
Reading the results of Mr. Scher’s research was remindful of a day many years
ago that an article so biased against anything but liberal values, caused my
own cancellation of a long-held subscription to the Times. And in the time
since, the liberal slant has increased significantly to the extent that
objectivity has disappeared altogether on their part.
Yet, all of the bias of the Times notwithstanding, the rest of the major
media seem to be grasping the point that not only is Bill Clinton’s wife unable
to finally eliminate Sanders, Trump has a truly viable chance of beating her
badly in November. And that would be a situation the Democrat party truly can't
tolerate.
Bringing up the ongoing question again: Joe Biden, Mayor Bloomberg, Jerry
Brown, and Starbuck’s chairman and CEO, Howard Schultz, are you guys reading
this?
That’s it for today folks.
Adios
