BloggeRhythms

Yesterday at 11:27AM, this blog suggested that: “it almost doesn’t matter who Republicans elect as their new speaker, as long as it isn’t Kevin McCarthy. Because,  if he gets the post, it will be a disaster of major proportions for the whole party in November 2016, including probable loss of any chance at the White House."

Then, about an hour later, McCarthy announced his withdrawal from the race for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives. This is mentioned again today, because it clearly illustrates that even holders of the highest government offices often take advice that’s been offered here, which is very reassuring to the author.

On another matter, some interesting commentary took place on Varney & Co. on Fox News this morning as host Stuart Varney expressed concern about the recent increases in the barrel cost of oil.

One of the  guest traders, speaking from the floor of the NY Stock Exchange opined that higher prices are primarily due to those who’ve bought futures and other instruments, trying to take advantage of news from the Middle-East that might influence commodity prices higher.

When Varney then expressed displeasure again, because he was hoping to see oil at $50.00 per barrel or less by Christmas, a woman guest on his studio panel offered another opinion. Although I didn’t catch her name, she opined that since Saudi Arabia is now threatened by Iran and Russia, the Saudi’s can harm both nations financially by continually lowering the price for its oil. And in that way, limit the military capabilities of its enemies.

Hearing the woman guest’s answer confirmed once again a point that’s been made here quite often. Because, right here in the U.S., are huge resources that if tapped, could significantly bring down the cost of oil, both here and abroad. Yet, for purely political reasons, the POTUS continues to pander to environmentalists that support him. Although the global-warming they claim to fear hasn’t occurred in eighteen years and won’t for at least ten more, if ever, according to highly credentialed scientists.

So, here we have a situation where the whole free world order is at significant military risk for no real reason beyond political payback.

Along the same lines, here’s something else to watch.

James Rosen wrote today @FoxNews.com, that: “Some senior U.S. officials involved in the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal have privately concluded that a key sanctions relief provision – a concession to Iran that will open the doors to tens of billions of dollars in U.S.-backed commerce with the Islamic regime – conflicts with existing federal statutes and cannot be implemented without violating those laws, Fox News has learned.”

While the laws are complex, the articles well-worth reading, so here’s a link: EXCLUSIVE- U.S. officials conclude Iran deal violates federal law

Which brings us to today’s update on Bill Clinton’s wife, that concerns Joe Biden, again.

Ryan Lizza @newyorker.com reports: “Representatives of the Vice-President held a meeting this week with Democratic National Committee staffers. They briefed Biden’s aides on arcane but crucial rules that the Vice-President would need to understand if he decides to run, according to a D.N.C. official.

“It was the most significant sign the source had seen to indicate Biden’s intentions. “I think it means he’s running,” the source said.

All other candidate’s have had similar briefings, however, when the D.N.C. offered the meeting to Biden earlier this year, in June, that meeting was cancelled by Biden’s aides.

When the meeting was finally held this week, D.N.C. staffers walked Biden’s representatives through the primary calendar, filing deadlines, the mechanics of ballot-access issues, and the complicated details of the party’s state-by-state selection process for delegates and super delegates. The session included a level of detail that would only be of interest to a candidate who is serious about running.

Which leads to the ongoing question: Mayor Bloomberg, Jerry Brown, and Starbuck’s chairman and CEO, Howard Schultz, are you reading this?

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
