As U.S. influence recedes around the world, one is reminded of Pat Buchanan's proposing that: “America’s “red lines” should be set down clearly in front of our vital interests. Then, we should inform our friends and allies that their defense is, first and foremost, their own responsibility.”

And, whether or not that was the POTUS’s plan along, except for the millions illegally crossing our borders annually, American isolationism is precisely what’s happening. And along with it, U.S. strength and image in the world have just about disappeared too. The world’s recognized leader for many, if not most, is now Vladimir Putin, while U.S. allies must be wondering whatever happened to U.S. superiority.

On another subject, the House is preparing to vote for a new Speaker to replace retiring John Boehner. Candidates for the post now include Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Representative Daniel Webster of Florida, and House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz of Utah.

This is a case that should have been perfunctory, whereas despite hard-liner’s displeasure that a mainstream Republican like McCarthy isn’t conservative enough, more votes were assured than needed. However, in a major gaffe, he recently linked Hillary Clinton's dropping poll numbers to the activities of the congressional Benghazi committee.

Thus, he’s now he’s not only  turned the Benghazi investigation into a political football, he’s given Bill Clinton’s wife ammunition to use against Republicans for the rest of her presidential campaign, regardless. And, since that's the case, it almost doesn’t matter who Republicans elect as their new speaker, as long as it isn’t Kevin McCarthy. Because,  if he gets the post, it will be a disaster of major proportions for the whole party in November 2016, including probable loss of any chance at the White House

Which brings us to today’s update on Bill Clinton’s wife.

In typical Clinton fashion, Bill’s wife is presently strongly attempting to distance herself from an increasingly unpopular Obama administration.

In that regard, after first dodging the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) issue, on Sunday in Iowa, Bill’s wife said that "the President should listen to and work with his allies in Congress, starting with (House Minority Leader) Nancy Pelosi, who have expressed their concerns about the impact that a weak agreement would have on our workers, to make sure we get the best, strongest deal possible. And if we don't get it, there should be no deal."

But, as members of the Obama administration can attest, Bill’s wife was one of the leading drivers of the TPP when Secretary of State, there are 45 instances when she approvingly invoked the trade bill about which she is now expressing concerns.

A sample from November 14, 2012, are the following remarks she made at the Opening of the AUSMIN Ministerial: “That means finalizing the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which will lower trade barriers, raise labor and environmental standards, and drive growth across the region. And it includes, of course, working closely together at the upcoming East Asia Summit to advance a shared agenda."

Additionally, here’s a link to the specific endorsements she’s made regarding the deal, as posted on cnn.com, back on June 15th of this year: 45 times Clinton pushed the trade bill she now opposes

Since she’s obviously grasping at whatever issues she can find in her attempts to obfuscate her past affiliation and support of the administration she’s now disparaging, it indicates weakness which opposing contenders can exploit. And also leads to the ongoing question: Joe Biden, Mayor Bloomberg, and Starbuck’s chairman and CEO, Howard Schultz, are you reading this?

That's it for today folks.

Adios
