BloggeRhythms

Today’s one of those lazy August Sunday’s where nothing really interesting is happening. However, there were two items illustrating how politicians waste time, taxpayer’s money and meaningless effort pursuing and/or promoting senseless objectives.

As far as U.S. foreign policy is concerned, the Iran nuclear deal is quite simple to understand. In this case, the huge negative ramifications really don’t matter, because the deal’s being done for personal reasons. As far as the POTUS is concerned, pleasing Valerie Jarrett, the Reverend Wright in Chicago, and Kerry’s wife, Teresa, seems to be enough for him.

However, the current Cuba agreement to reopen embassies makes absolutely no sense whatever to anybody.

Reuters reports today, that “Cuba's lead negotiator in talks with Washington told Reuters on Friday that the island's internal affairs would never be on the table and Havana would never move "one millimeter" to placate enemies in the United States.

"Decisions on internal matters are not negotiable and will never be put on the negotiating agenda in conversations with the United States," Josefina Vidal, director of U.S. affairs for the Cuban Foreign Ministry, said in an exclusive interview.

What’s even worse is that, "[A]fter U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said in Havana that the U.S. Congress was unlikely to ever lift a punishing economic embargo on Cuba unless the Communist government improved its human rights record, Vidal proclaimed that, “Cuba will never do absolutely anything, not move one millimeter, to try to respond."

Thus, any rational human being would have to wonder if there’s anyone in the current administration that actually knows what they’re doing. Because there doesn’t seem to be an iota of a reason to pursue a relationship with a nation that not only doesn’t want to cooperate,  obviously couldn’t care less about it.

Along the same lines of the administration's babbling about building relationships where the evidence clearly demonstrates something else, today’s update on Bill Clinton’s wife illustrates a similar situation. This one regarding her ignoring of facts that refuted her assertions of innocence in a campaign speech in Iowa yesterday.

According to FoxNews.com, “Clinton reiterated that she did not send or receive emails marked classified from her homemade email server while secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, an issue that continues to overshadow her campaign.

“She told reporters that she would let the inquiry into her email use continue, while she blamed her Republican challengers and House GOP members for turning the issue into a partisan affair.”

What’s truly incredible is her telling reporters that she would "let" the inquiry into her email use continue,” when she has absolutely not one iota of choice in the matter. Her computer server was confiscated by agents of the FBI, and it is they who will determine how, when and where her emails will be handled.

The editors at nationalreview.com put it this way: “The seizure of the server, along with electronic copies of its contents maintained by her private lawyer, is in connection with a criminal investigation into the mishandling of classified information. It is being dressed up by a reeling Clinton campaign as Hillary’s “voluntary” surrender of the server in connection with a “security inquiry.”

And since there has already been evidence of mishandling classified information, the following question has to be asked: Joe Biden, Mayor Bloomberg, Jerry Brown, and Starbuck’s chairman and CEO, Howard Schultz, are you reading this?

That's it for today folks.

Adios
