BloggeRhythms 9/7/2013

The incumbent met with his two top advisors the other day, and since then it seems to me his rhetoric on a Syrian bombing’s been even louder. Which is really interesting because it implies that the nation could be brought to the brink of war by two inexperienced political hacks and a community organizer.

But, despite the unpopularity of an un-thoughtout attack with no follow-up plan, it occurred to me that to date I haven’t seen anyone mention the costs involved in any detail.

Therefore, without going into the specifics of the expenses related to the building armada in the eastern Mediterranean because those vessels would be at sea anyway, I researched the costs of the missiles themselves.

Not knowing what types of weapons would be employed, I searched the web and found that quite common Tomahawk missiles cost $569,000 each several years ago, with newer Cruise Missile XR’s somewhere around $3 million apiece.

Then, an article in the New York Times from April 18, 2013 reports that ”current short-range air-defense interceptor missiles cost up to $1.4 million each.”

Consequently, every one of these weapons that’s launched could conceivably cost as much as, $!,656,333, the average price of the three I looked up.

So, if this purely political ploy goes through simply to paint the incumbent as a “military” leader, something he surely isn’t, our practically destitute nation will likely burn up more than a million bucks every time a launch button’s pushed.

And what’s even more ridiculous than that, it will probably have no effect on the Syrian conflict whatsoever. Because everyone on the planet who knows how to read understands the bombing’s only an attempt to deliver on threatening words about a fictitious red line that should have never been said in the first place.

But, then again, although the half of the American population that pays taxes may be upset about the wasting of however many millions get spent on the incumbent’s version of Willy’s aspirin factory decimation, the costs are only a drop in the bucket compared to the coming rise in health tax expenditures.

Then, if you add to that, the income losses from the growing move toward hiring part-time workers, I suppose one could conclude that the per capita expense incurred due to this administration is the highest there ever was in the nation's history with absolutely nothing to show for it.

That's it for today folks.

Adios
