BloggeRhythms

The reaction of those on the left to the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Accord was typified yesterday by the front page of the New York Daily News. And what that front page illustrates crystal clearly, is that leftist ideology has nothing to do with reality, focusing entirely instead on destroying Trump, the Republican party and any other entity opposed to leftist litany.

While the headline blasts the message that Trump’s told the rest of the world to “drop dead,” he did nothing of the sort whatsoever. Nor did he deny “science” or the planet's future. What he did say was that the U.S. would not pay trillions of future taxpayer dollars to carry the rest of the world on their shoulders on an unfair playing field. He also quickly added that the U.S. will “begin negotiations to reenter” the pact or work out a new deal.

Here’s precisely what he said on the matter: “This agreement is less about the climate and more about other countries gaining a financial advantage over the United States.  The rest of the world applauded when we signed the Paris Agreement — they went wild; they were so happy — for the simple reason that it put our country, the United States of America, which we all love, at a very, very big economic disadvantage.  A cynic would say the obvious reason for economic competitors and their wish to see us remain in the agreement is so that we continue to suffer this self-inflicted major economic wound.  We would find it very hard to compete with other countries from other parts of the world.

“We have among the most abundant energy reserves on the planet, sufficient to lift millions of America’s poorest workers out of poverty.  Yet, under this agreement, we are effectively putting these reserves under lock and key, taking away the great wealth of our nation — it's great wealth, it's phenomenal wealth; not so long ago, we had no idea we had such wealth — and leaving millions and millions of families trapped in poverty and joblessness.”

The vaunted Wall Street Journal confirmed the POTUS’s perspective, opining: “The reality is that withdrawing is in America’s economic interest and won’t matter much to the climate.”

Along the same lines, Charles Krauthammer said on Special Report with Bret Baier: “The left is showing that this has become an issue of almost religious beliefs.  You could shut down every coal mine in America, the effect on the climate, on temperature, would be negligible.  You couldn't even measure it.”

Home Depot Co-Founder Bernie Marcus said: “Exiting this treaty is also a victory for all Americans, who will avoid having their limited disposable income diverted to pay for the priorities of a global elite."

Coming around to the practical realities of what’s transpiring despite Trump's withdrawal decision, or perhaps because of it, Aaron Kuriloff and Riva Gold report @wsj.com that: “Global Stocks Ride a Wave of Optimism.”

Subtitles say: “Economy and earnings lift stock indexes in U.S. and other countries to records; Treasury yields drop,” and “U.S. stocks rose to fresh highs Friday, capping a cascade of records around the world.”

According to the text: “The global economy and corporate profits are showing signs of strength, boosting stocks both in the U.S. and elsewhere, some analysts and investors said. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were among the global indexes, including Germany’s DAX and South Korea’s Kospi, at records Friday.”

Readers, as usual, added well-informed commentary in predominant disagreement with mainstream reportage.

Jason Vincent commented: “What is amazing to me is all the optimism among the people in spite of the drumbeat of negative reporting by our bottom feeding Liberal media that can't find anything good to say about more jobs, better national security, lower taxes, smaller government and more freedom.  Despicable and UN-American they are.”

Patrick McGoldrick responded: “When I invest, I do not consult Matt Lauer or Savanah Guthrie.”

Todd Bellows wrote: “This must be fake news.  The WSJ and all other Globalist news outlets were adamant that Trump would be the end of civilization as we know it.  And we ALL trust the Globalist news outlets, don't we?  (rolls eyes).”

Harlan Hill wrote: “What I find interesting is the DJIA and other indexes are hitting all time highs, and there is no mention of this in any WSJ headline, none.

“However, the DJIA falls 300 points two weeks ago and you would think it was as important as the parting of the Red Sea given the extensive coverage.

“Sigh...I long for the days of unbiased journalism.“

And then, another take on the presidency comes from Judge Jeanine Pirro @sectice.com.

Yesterday, the Judge said that “regardless of whether people love or hate President Trump, America has never had a president like him, and that’s true.”

“Through all the ups and downs, our 45th president maintained the same uneasy relationship with the mainstream media that he says has never given him a fair chance. But Donald Trump didn’t need the support of the liberal elites to win the White House. He hasn’t needed it since he took office. And, if we’ve learned anything these past 100 days, there’s no indication he’ll ever bow to the establishment as he continues on his one-man quest to shake up Washington and the world,” Pirro said.

“Liberal hosts better understand this, because President Trump is the best thing that has ever happened to this country. In the first three months, the President did more than Obama ever did during his 8 years in office, and everyone should know this, especially hosts like Whoopi Golberg, Joy Behar, and their co-hosts at The View.”

And it’s in the last paragraph where the pitfalls for the left really lie, whereas actions do always speak louder than words, as first spoken in politics by Abraham Lincoln in 1856.

Thus, when the economy's booming, the ludicrous global-warming fiction’s forgotten, the GDP hits 3-4% and the long-term unemployed are all working again, most voters aren’t really going to care very much about whatever fiction it is that those on the left are sniveling about at any particular time in the future.

That's it for today folks.

Adios
