Trump's presidential election victory has been met with shock across
the nation. Particularly by Democrats of course, and their ordinarily reliable
arm, the mainstream media. However, that’s not the case here, where his victory
if not a certain expectation, was surely well within the realm of significant
possibility.
While speculation regarding reasons for his triumph are offered by countless
sources, two factors stand out as most highly probable. First, the level of
disappointment with government was greatly underestimated by the MSM. And
second, a major segment of the voting public existed outside the traditional
party affiliation's which attained its input from a growing base of alternative
sources.
To that extent, in time Drudge and his website will likely be given credit
for providing links to numerous information sources on a daily basis, from which
huge troves of information became available to those choosing to pursue it. And,
this writer certainly did so.
Then, there’s the Web itself which permits research on virtually every
subject imaginable. Including political information, theory and trends from all
over the planet, adding significant perspective above and beyond what's found
here at home.
As far as Trump’s win itself is concerned, what seemed to resonate most with
his constituents are his promises to scrap or overhaul many of Obama's signature
initiatives, such as the health care tax, the climate change hoax and the Paris
accord of 2015, and the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
Furthermore, in his victory speech, he said he had a “great economic plan,”
would embark on a project to rebuild American infrastructure and would double
U.S. economic growth. All of which resounded quite well with an electorate that
felt itself completely overlooked and abandoned by DC insiders and elitists for
the past ten years or more.
On a foreign policy note, Jay Akbar @dailymail.co.uk writes that:
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Donald Trump on his election as
US president on Wednesday and called him 'a true friend of the state of Israel'.
'I look forward to working with him to advance security, stability and peace
in our region,' Israeli leader Netanyahu said in a statement.
“He went on: 'The ironclad bond between the United States and Israel is
rooted in shared values, buttressed by shared interests and driven by a shared
destiny.
'I am confident that president-elect Trump and I will continue to strengthen
the unique alliance between our two countries and bring it to ever greater
heights.'
“Education Minister Naftali Bennett, who heads the hardline Jewish Home
party, said Trump's victory eradicated the idea of a Palestinian state.
“He said the unprecedented win was an 'opportunity for Israel to immediately
retract the notion of a Palestinian state in the centre of the country, which
would hurt our security and just cause'.
“Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that he hopes 'peace will be
achieved' during Trump's term.”
Which means that moves in the right direction have already begun.
And then, one of the best summary’s regarding Bill Clinton’s wife’s loss came
from Michael Goodwin @nypost.com, this morning and serves as today’s
update on her.
“A month ago, it looked as if Obama would pick his successor and bury Trump
in a humiliating landslide. Yet today, Trump is the president-elect and the
Obama legacy is in shambles.
“As for Hillary Clinton, she didn’t deserve to be president, despite wanting
it more than life itself.
“She had no rationale for running, was so ethically challenged and so
patently dishonest that, to me, it would be a give-up if she became president.
“She would have made history and ruined the country. That was too high a
price for shattering the glass ceiling.
“Beyond Clinton, Obama and George Soros, Hollywood and the media, the losers
include political correctness, that disease of the spirit that saps confidence
in one’s own values and success.
“Most important, Trump pledged to make America strong again, and if he does,
he will be a success.”
While Mr. Goodwin’s summation’s are as profound and correct as can be
expected to be available, much if not all of what he wrote was quite well known
before the Democrat party chose her as its presidential candidate. Which is why
for quite a long time now these daily entry’s have ended with the repeating
question: Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Jerry Brown, and Starbucks chairman and
CEO, Howard Schultz are you guys reading this?
However, it’s obvious that they either weren’t reading the query, ignored it,
or simply didn’t care. For which we should all be grateful. Because if one of
them had actually decided to enter the contest, it might have turned out very
differently for Trump and the rest of us.
And then, a friend just sent this one:
That's it for today folks.
Adios
