Quite an interesting day media-wise, in which public opinion indicates the level
of damage the MSM has done to its own goals and objectives, and to itself.
Because, as a practical matter, while the media’s obvious bias has not
greatly helped those it supports, at the same time its shrunken its audience to
the lowest in recorded history.
Art Swift @gallup.com, writes today: “Americans' trust and
confidence in the mass media "to report the news fully, accurately and fairly"
has dropped to its lowest level in Gallup polling history, with 32% saying they
have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media. This is down eight
percentage points from last year.
Republicans naturally have a distaste for the MSM considering how they are
generally treated. Only 14% of them say they have trust in the media, a 32%
plummet from a year ago. Easily the lowest confidence among Republicans in 20
years.
In the overall: “Before 2004, it was common for a majority of Americans to
profess at least some trust in the mass media, but since then, less than half of
Americans feel that way. Now, only about a third of the U.S. has any trust in
the Fourth Estate, a stunning development for an institution designed to inform
the public.”
As a measure of confirmation of MSM ineffectiveness, today's USC Dornsife/LA
Times Presidential Election Daybreak Poll shows Trump up another point over
yesterday. He’s at 47.2% compared to his rivals 41.3%, a six point edge.
When it comes to critical swing states, Trump’s doing
exceptionally well in many of those venues too.
According to Eliza Collins, @usatoday.com: “Donald Trump is ahead of
Hillary Clinton in the key battleground states of Ohio, Florida and Nevada,
according to new polls released Wednesday.”
He has a 5-point lead in Ohio in a new Bloomberg Politics poll. In a
head-to-head matchup, Trump led 48%-43%.
In Nevada, he had a 2-point lead in a new Monmouth University
poll released Wednesday, 44% of likely voters compared to 42%.
He’s also ahead in a CNN/ORC poll in Florida, 47% to 44%.
What’s also most interesting, is that three of the results come from generally left-leaning sources, USA Today, Bloomberg and CNN. Which goes to
help confirm the premise that the MSM is losing much of its former influence
regarding the voting public.
Although not a poll, the next item reflects pubic opinion in a
different manner. And the results do not bode very well for Bill Clinton's wife in this case
either.
They also serve as to today’s update on her.
First-week sales results for Bill’s wife’s brand new book provide a
quite valid indication regarding public opinion.
According to an article from www.theweek.com via Drudge:
“Hillary Clinton's newest book is a certifiable flop by the publishing
industry's standards, The New York Times reports. Stronger
Together sold only 2,912 copies in its first week of sales according to
Nielsen BookScan, which charts about 80 percent of nationwide physical book
sales. By comparison, Clinton's 2014 memoir Hard Choices, which also
didn't meet expectations, sold over 85,000 copies in its first week, and
Clinton's 2003 memoir, Living History, sold six times as many copies as
Hard Choices.
“Stronger Together is co-authored by Clinton's running mate, Tim
Kaine, and "presents [their] agenda in full, relating stories from the American
people and outlining the Clinton/Kaine campaign's plans on everything from
apprenticeships to the Zika virus," the Amazon description says.”
Thus, between the public’s growing distrust and distaste regarding the MSM,
coupled with Trump’s rise in key swing-state statistics, along with the “flop” in her book
sales, things aren’t boding too well for Bill’s wife today. Some might even say
her performance is “deplorable.”
And that naturally leads again to the ongoing question: Joe Biden, Jerry
Brown, and Starbucks chairman and CEO, Howard Schultz; are you guys reading
this?
That's it for today folks.
Adios
