BloggeRhythms 6/14/2011

Lately, many of my entries have been about things I simply don't understand. Today's is another one of those.

Seven of the current Republican candidates conducted a debate last night in Manchester, NH. The field included former Pennsylvania Senator, Rick Santorum, Minnesota Representative, Michele Bachmann, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney, Representative, Ron Paul of Texas, former Minnesota Governor, Tim Pawlenty and businessman, Herman Cain. And my feeling about the whole thing was, so what?

First of all, six of these folks are politicians and the seventh's a businessman who's trying to become one. Thus the most important thing about them all to me is, it doesn't matter what comes out of their mouths. Because, if anyone has a grain of sense they know nothing politicians say has very much to do with the truth. So, why should I waste my time listening to them spout rhetoric that's valueless even as they speak it?

But, let's suppose there was a really outstanding debater. Someone whose stage presence was head and shoulders above the rest. Beyond that, the orator's ideas were dynamic and forcefully stated. One whose aura gave you the impression they were capable of reshaping policy, introducing ideas to repair past economic, military and social damage, someone who could resurrect not only the U.S., but also the rest of the world. This was a person whose stage presence demanded respect from just about all on the planet. Beyond that, this person was a media idol, loved deeply and promoted constantly by the press. Wouldn't that person be a Godsend to everyone on the planet?

Then suppose that person's name was O'bama and compare his performance to his verbiage. Which demonstrates why I think debating's value is less than zero.

That's it for today folks.

Adios
