There’s little doubt that New York City’s Mayor, de Blasio possesses neither the skills or experience to handle the job voters gave him, but his openly hostile attitude toward the best police force in the nation is now coming back to haunt him.

Steve Hopkins wrote in MailOnline yesterday, via Drudge, that “New York police have cut back on arrests and reduced the amount of summonses they normally issue at this time of year, as relations continue to sour with Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“In the week to last Sunday, officers made half as many arrests as they normally do and issued just 347 summonses. During the same period a year ago, police issued 4,077. Parking and traffic tickets also dropped by 90 per cent.”

It’s the second straight week that officers have reduced their weekly activity as crimes figures showed  parking violations were down by 93 per cent, traffic infractions fell 92 per cent and other low-level crime dropped by 91 per cent. Citywide, officers made a total of 2,401 arrests, compared with 5,448 for the same week the year before - a 56 per cent reduction.

While the “declines came after a drastic drop in activity that began shortly after the murders of officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu on December 20, police union leaders have denied that the declines represent any work action. But they have acknowledged that they've told staff to put their safety first.”

A reader, wait4it, Las Vegas, precisely and accurately summed the situation up this way: “lol...the liberals got what they wished for.”

Then there was a short column by Tony Lee of Breitbart via Drudge reporting that, “On Tuesday, former Florida governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush announced the launch of his new “Right to Rise” political action committee in English and Spanish on Facebook.”

The items noteworthy because the vast majority of readers were not only Republicans but most, by far, objected significantly to the outreach toward Hispanics. Many, in fact, claimed that they were fed up to the extent that they would either not vote in the coming presidential election, vote libertarian or even protest by a vote for a Democrat.

However, what these partisans seemingly fail to realize is that not only are many Hispanics full-fledged citizens, but a Pew Center “analysis finds that Latinos made up 10% of the electorate, as indicated by the national exit poll, up from 9% in 2008 and 8% in 2004. Latinos voted for President Barack Obama over Republican Mitt Romney by 71% to 27%, according to an analysis of exit polls by the Center.”

Therefore, had more attention been paid to this population segment, the last presidential election outcome might have been different.

And lastly, another update on the president’s most important issue, global-warming (now called “climate-change”.)

According to weather.gov, his hometown of Chicago’s forecast shows: “Areas of blowing snow. Mostly sunny and cold, with a steady temperature around -2. Wind chill values as low as -28. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. "

However, his supposed birthplace isn’t doing much better because staradvertiser.com via Drudge states that, “The unusually cold weather over the last two days continued to break records in Hawaii, including a record for this date that goes back over 122 years in Honolulu.

“The National Weather Service said Monday morning's low temperature of 57 degrees beat the low temperature for this date  of 60 degrees of temperatures recorded at the Honolulu Airport.
“It also beat a older low temperature record for Honolulu set in 1893 of 58 degrees.

“On Kauai, the low of 57 degrees at the Lihue Airport beat tied a record of 57 degrees last seen in 1993.

“It's the second day of record low temperatures." While, "Four low temperatures records were tied or broken Sunday morning.”

So, when it comes to issues like the Keystone pipeline, or curbing illegal immigration, the president may be able to get his way with his veto pen. But, a major problem he has to deal with, and cannot do a thing about, is that Mother Nature and Jack Frost not only can’t be ruled against, they don’t even care a whit about who he is.

That's it for today folks.

Adios
