BloggeRhythms

Scanning today’s news events doesn’t present very much worth commenting on. However, I’m still fuming over yesterday’s assessment by a “second former U.S. official” regarding Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s reaction to the letter he’s received from the president.

The U.S. official stated that “Mr. Khamenei’s failure to reject outright the possibility of a compromise on the nuclear file also raised hopes. “You don’t know how important it is for the supreme leader of Iran to actually write a letter to the U.S. It’s a sign he recognizes the country.”

Reading the official's statement  again has me sitting here wondering if I’ve drifted off into the twilight zone. And, since I know that hasn’t happened, the answer must lie within the comment itself. Which, right off the bat made me consider where this U.S. official obtained his education, particularly the part regarding his own country and it’s status in the world.

Apparently, this official is totally unaware that in any category you choose to consider the U.S. is by far the world’s leader. Be it the economy, military, education, even health care at the moment until it collapses under the health care tax, technology, innovation, integration, science and almost everything else.

However, until positions are backed up by hard fact, opinions are subject to speculation. So, here’s some data:

The United States' GDP was estimated to be $17.711 TRILLION as of Q4 2014. Iran’s was $945.5 billion, not even a drop in the comparative bucket.

Iran ranked 152nd out of the 189 countries surveyed in the 2014 World Bank’s Doing Business Report, while Heritage Foundation "ranked it last out of 15 countries in the Middle East/North Africa region, and its overall score is well below the world and regional averages."

news1.linktv.org reports that, “In September 2012, the Iranian rial fell to a record low of 23,900 to the US dollar.”

A little more research out of curiosity got me to tennessean.com which notes that: “Led by $1.4 trillion in New York, the (GMP) of 33 U.S. metros surpassed $100 billion in 2013, as Austin, Columbus (Ohio), and Sacramento (Calif.) joined that elite club,” the report says. “In 2014, we project that Las Vegas and Nashville will as well.”

So, aside from the social backwardness of this pile of sand in the desert, it’s economy is dwarfed by a US city, New York. Which means that if the administration doesn’t want to confront our enemies for whatever reasons, perhaps they can call Rudy Giuliani who will probably be willing to take a couple days off from his business and shut Iran down for them once and for all.

But, whatever the outcome in Iran, its simply incredible that the people running the nation at present don’t understand a single thing about it or what it’s accomplished.

And then, an article on nypost.com by Beckie Strum, Gabrielle Fonrouge and Bob Fredericks reports that “The Big Apple will be more like the Big Icebox this weekend.

“An arctic cold front packing dangerous winds of up to 60 mph could make it feel like it’s 20 below zero by Sunday — the coldest wind-chill factor since 1993’s “Storm of the Century,” forecasters warned.

“You better snuggle up,” AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines said, noting the arctic blast will blow through after another snowstorm slams the already hard-hit Northeast this weekend.”

Which makes me wonder that if the president has no plans for his retirement, maybe he and Tom Steyer can go into the commercial heating business and make another fortune for themselves.

That's it for today folks.

Adios
