BloggeRhythms

Bill Clinton’s wife has always seemed humorless to me, yet she often makes me laugh. While using every political trick in the book to try and back into the presidency, she’s now added an attempt to gain sympathy for a non-existent plight.

She told ABC News on Sunday that “We came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt. We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages, for houses, for Chelsea's education. You know, it was not easy."

Therefore, she’s stating that upon leaving the presidency, the man who was just the most powerful individual on the planet was concerned about money. However, all he had to do was pick up the phone and arrange to make a $250,00 speaking engagement.

As far as the timing of  the Clinton’s financial struggle goes, Bill left office in January of 2001. Yet, in Andrew Johnson’s The Corner in National Review on-line “In a December 2000 article, the New York Times reported that then-senator-elect Clinton sold her memoir, Living History, to Simon & Schuster for $8 million. The newspaper described the effort to nab her book as a “frantic weeklong bidding war” after she held an open auction on the proposal.”

Therefore, if the Clinton’s were destitute in 2001, they’d somehow or other blown $8 million bucks in about 4 weeks.

It’s also interesting to recall where some of the couple’s largest portion of debt came from, which turns out to be legal fees. $3.5 million or so from the Whitewater scam and another million to defend against Bill’s impeachment for lying about his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

And even before that, despite the family's debt, they got help back in 1999 from fundraiser Terry McAuliffe (now, the governor of Virginia) to secure a loan for a $1.7 million home in Chappaqua, N.Y. The home helped Hillary Clinton claim residency so she could run for Senate.

Furthermore, money-wise, according to an April report from the Congressional Research Service, Bill Clinton has received nearly $16 million in pensions and benefits from the federal government since leaving office. That includes $944,000 in fiscal year 2014 for office space, staff, and a pension.

And then, by 2009, when Hillary Clinton was preparing to join President Obama's administration as secretary of State, the Clintons' wealth was somewhere between $10 million and $50 million.

So, this is another case where Bill’s wife is relying on money and banking. But this time around what she’s “banking” on is that very few people are going to look up the details of their hugely successful financial affairs.

On another subject, it very well may be that the recent prisoner of war swap was made in order to grab the headlines away from other subjects the administration has misjudged and mishandled altogether.

A just released Fox News poll finds. “Less than a third of voters believes that the government will do a better job with ObamaCare than the VA did managing care for vets (31 percent). Over half believe it won’t (55 percent). Meanwhile, a majority regrets ObamaCare ever passed, and more voters than not say the country is worse off under the law. By a 55-38 percent margin, people wish the Affordable Care Act had never passed and the 2009 system were still in place. That includes a quarter of Democrats (25 percent), a majority of independents (58 percent)… In addition, by a double-digit margin, more voters say the country is worse off under the new health care law: 44 percent worse off vs. 29 percent better.”

Additionally, oil reached a $104.41 per barrel cost yesterday, while according to Investing.com, the highest price in history is 105.05, just 64 cents more. Yet, the Keystone pipeline approval still sits on the incumbent;s desk unsigned.

All of which means that it really doesn’t matter much what Bill Clinton’s wife says in, or about, her book. Because by the time the incumbents through destroying every aspect of American life he touches, it will likely be a very long while before any Democrat’s going to be elected to do anything, anywhere, any time, and especially, the presidency.

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
