This morning, the funeral of Rafael “Ralph” Ramos was held. He’s the NYC police officer, and 40-year-old father of two, who was shot dead with his partner, Wenjian Liu, as they sat in their squad car on a meal break in Brooklyn on December 20th. The shooter, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, later killed himself.

With more than 20,000 police officers from around the country attending, Stephen Davis, the police department's chief spokesman, said today’s service may prove to be the largest funeral in the police department's history.

Emily Wax-Thibodeaux writes on washingtonpost.com: “It’s important to be here because it’s an attack on the whole society,” said Anthony Pastore, a Long Island officer and veteran of the Marine Corps. “When I saw the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases, all I thought about was the idea of voluntary  compliance. When a police officer stops you, you don’t fight. You go through the process. You both stay calm. My guys didn’t have the luxury, he said with tears in his eyes. “They were just executed. They never had a chance.”

Officer Pastore’s comment brings me to the subject of todays entry, which is the question of how the entire rebellion against police procedures began in the first place.

What hasn’t been clear to me from the start of the recent anti-police rhetoric and disruptive goading by the president and AG Eric Holder, is what they’re trying to accomplish. While the like’s of Al Sharpton is quite obvious, whereas he’ll do anything for money and personal gain, the objective of those at the top of government isn’t quite the same. So, what do they really want to happen?

If one looks at the matters regarding white officers acting aggressively toward African Americans, facts seem to indicate that the police were performing according to procedural guidelines. But, what’s extremely confusing is how anti-police protesters have been rebelling against those actions.

Because it’s hard to fathom why anyone performing within the law would have a problem following the steps outlined by Officer Pastore regarding the “the idea of voluntary  compliance.” Which means that, “When a police officer stops you, you don’t fight. You go through the process. You both stay calm.”

Leading to the simple question of who but an illegal alien, thief, crook, murderer or criminal could possibly have a problem with that?

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
