An article in National Review Online’s (NRO), The Corner, quotes comments by Charles Krauthammer, regarding what he feels is a weak response from the incumbent to Russia’s military build-up near Ukraine.

According to NRO, “As reports are coming in that Russia has placed 2,000 troops in Crimea, within the borders of Ukraine, President Obama said that “the United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine.”

They then note that “Charles Krauthammer responded on Special Report tonight saying, “The Ukrainians, and I think everybody, is shocked by the weakness of Obama’s statement. I find it rather staggering.”

I mention the issue because although Mr. Krauthammer’s conclusions are usually quite well-informed, accurate and succinct, a reader using the ID “WhatRedLine” posted a comment that while shorter, summed this situation up brilliantly, as follows.

“Lets see - a Community Organizer vs the former head of the KGB... Vegas odds on The Ukraine is at 1000 to 1”

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
