BloggeRhythms

Today’s another where one has to wonder if those on the left exist in a naïve alternate universe or are simply unable to grasp the practical realities of what really transpires around them.

The thought arose while reading an article written by the Los Angeles Times Editorial Board titled: “Our Dishonest President”

The gist is made clear in the opening paragraphs, as follows:

“It was no secret during the campaign that Donald Trump was a narcissist and a demagogue who used fear and dishonesty to appeal to the worst in American voters. The Times called him unprepared and unsuited for the job he was seeking, and said his election would be a “catastrophe.”

“Still, nothing prepared us for the magnitude of this train wreck. Like millions of other Americans, we clung to a slim hope that the new president would turn out to be all noise and bluster, or that the people around him in the White House would act as a check on his worst instincts, or that he would be sobered and transformed by the awesome responsibilities of office.

“Instead, seventy-some days in — and with about 1,400 to go before his term is completed — it is increasingly clear that those hopes were misplaced.”

From there, examples were provided as the basis for the Times concerns: “In a matter of weeks, President Trump has taken dozens of real-life steps that, if they are not reversed, will rip families apart, foul rivers and pollute the air, intensify the calamitous effects of climate change and profoundly weaken the system of American public education for all.

“His attempt to de-insure millions of people who had finally received healthcare coverage and, along the way, enact a massive transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich has been put on hold for the moment. But he is proceeding with his efforts to defang the government’s regulatory agencies and bloat the Pentagon’s budget even as he supposedly retreats from the global stage.”

As the text continued, specific information is provided which from the Editorial Board’s perspective supports their points regarding Trump's material damage to their causes and issues of interest.

It was also the point at which this author recalled a posting from several months ago, regarding the disastrous performance of Trump’s predecessor, a copy of which is posted below.

At the time, my posting was a response to a Facebook reader who also had a distorted perspective of the state of the nation under Democrat leadership. I wrote:

“I don’t believe a social network, such as Facebook, is the place for political argument’s or campaigning. However, since the subject arose, to give the guy with the faulty memory some help, here are a few things Obama’s done that can be considered destructive.

An Obamacare enrollment system that’s cost about $2.1 billion so far, according to a Bloomberg Government analysis of contracts related to the program and costs for an unworkable website.

An employee is now considered full time if averaging “at least 30 hours of service per week” in a month, a ramification of health care responsibilities of employers. Which means a 10 hour loss of work each week for millions of workers.

Raising the national debt to $20 trillion and climbing.

Reducing the U.S. actively employed workforce to 62.3 %, the lowest since the 1970’s.

Amnesty for 11 million illegal immigrants at a cost to taxpayer’s of billions.

Falsely promising under his health care tax that the insured could keep their doctors.

Walking away from the Middle-East, permitting and encouraging the rise of Isis (the JV squad.)

Unfulfilled promise of thousands of “Shovel-Ready” jobs.

The Solyndra scandal (Plus a host of other lesser known similar failures.)

The IRS scandal.

Abandoning the Red Line & Reset in Syria.

Underestimating the Muslim brotherhood.

Total mismanagement of Iraq & Libya.

Calling Benghazi a spontaneous riot due to offenses to Islam.

Botched ideas such as, Fast & Furious, Cash for Clunkers, the Dream Act.

Blocking the Keystone pipeline although every agency, including the State Department, has deemed it safer than drilling or trucking, while forcing Canada to sell the oil to China to be eventually used against us, while doubling the cost of fuel here.

Support of deserter Bowe Bergdahl.

NSA surveillance of citizens.

Incredibly costly government sequester (per Jack Lewis,)

Closing down the WWII Memorial for spite.

Bringing Ebola to the U.S. for no logical reason.

Leaving the Veteran health care system unfixed.

Releasing terrorists from Guantanamo while still unable to close the facility as promised.

Sending a larger delegation to Ferguson thug’s funeral than PM Thatcher's funeral.

Enabling Iran to police its own nuclear program, endangering the rest of the Middle-East, and eventually Europe and the U.S.

Opening the door to communist Cuba.

At the time this writer explained: “I don’t watch TV news at all. Have no interest in any talking-head, regardless of their political persuasion. Also have no care for either political party. My sources of news are The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Wall Street Journal, Breitbart, Politico, Bloomberg, CNN’s website and whatever other reference bases my web searches and reading discover, including many government sites.
