BloggeRhythms

The MSM, including the much-changed Fox News, are relentlessly pursuing the order from a Seattle federal judge's temporary travel ban on citizens from seven predominantly Muslim nations. Much is being aired in an attempt to condemn and vilify the order, with particular emphasis on the outrage erupting in protests across the nation.

According to Emanuella Grinberg and Madison Park on Monday @cnn.com, for example: “Throngs of people protested at major US landmarks, including the White House, Boston's Copley Square and Battery Park in Manhattan.

“The park was packed with more than 10,000 people, according to an official at City Hall. New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Rep. Nydia Velazquez, New York Sens. Chuck Schumer, the Democratic minority leader, and Kirsten Gillibrand took turns speaking.”

The following tweet was also included: “@CoryBooker speaking at #BatteryPark protest: "the power of the people is greater than the people in power" #NoBanNoWall”

Whereas so much was written regarding the volume of protestors involved, an attempt was made to determine the total number, if possible. However, the information could not be found to date. Therefore, for the purposes of illustration an assumption will be made regarding the count. To be on the safe side, it will be assumed that 500,000 marched, all told.

For comparison purposes, here are some other statistics.

According to pollster Gallup @gallup.com on January 11, 2016, 42% of voters identify as independents, 29% as Democrats, 26% as Republicans. Which means that 74% of them aren’t leftists.

In terms of numbers, Trump received 46.1% of the votes cast in November equaling 62,979,879 individuals likely in agreement with him on the immigration ban. Though not mentioned by the MSM, they number considerably than the 500,000 protestors.

As far as the makeup of the vote itself is concerned, across Middle-America, Trump won 30 states to his opponents 6. And to that can be added that presently 15.8% of the population is “foreign-born,” amounting to another 43.4 million people who didn’t show up at the protests either.

The occurrence is also remindful of the “silent majority” an unspecified large group of people in a country or group who do not express their opinions publicly. According to Wikipedia: “ The term was popularized by U.S. President Richard Nixon in a November 3, 1969, speech in which he said, "And so tonight—to you, the great silent majority of my fellow Americans—I ask for your support."

While the focus at the time was the Americans who did not join in the large demonstrations against the Vietnam War, “Nixon along with many others saw this group of Middle Americans as being overshadowed in the media by the more vocal minority.”

And in his case, the “silent majority” helped greatly to put him in office twice.

A well-written rationale for Democrat leadership’s attempts to appeal to their shrinking base of leftist zealots came from Maeve Reston of CNN @breitbart.com, as follows:

“Democrats are spending the opening weeks of the Trump administration trying to flex their muscle any way they can — boycotting confirmation hearings, refusing to work with Republicans on Obamacare and pondering a filibuster of President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court pick.

“But as Democrats throw every procedural hurdle they can think of at Trump, they’re facing a bleak reality: they have virtually no power in Washington.

“The party has no clear successor to Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton who can speak with one voice for the party. And there is no consensus yet on a strategy to thwart Trump’s legislative agenda — or even how to prioritize the issues they plan to challenge him on.”

In addition, the problem compounds because liberals not only have no agenda, their cohorts in the MSM are being found out and neutralized by rapidly growing alternative sources of news and information.

Alex Pfeiffer writes @dailycaller.com today: “Journalists can’t seem to get their stories straight in the opening weeks of the Trump administration, whether in tweets or in articles where falsehoods have been spread almost daily.

“The mistakes have not just been from newer liberal news outlets such The Huffington Post or BuzzFeed, but from legacy media like Reuters, The Washington Post, and The New York Times.”

A series of several botched stories or conflicting reports since President Trump took office followed. They’re well-worth reading, so here’s a link: http://dailycaller.com/2017/02/04/errors-from-the-press-are-piling-up-in-the-opening-weeks-of-the-trump-administration/#ixzz4XpKeFrrl

The article, as usual, was followed by a significant number of well-written comments from readers that should be read too. Here’s an example from the last few paragraphs of a reader, Serrera’s, thoughts.

“I believe that eventually this cycle of insanity will change or evolve into something else and the credible sources will begin to shake out of the madness. I think the awakening is already happening. Much of the media is already getting a spanking and there will be changes that happen due to that. I think that those who learn will evolve and become better. Those that don't will die off.

“I also think that those of us that read and/or participate in comment forums like this one are far more engaged in this sort of rhetoric in the day to day than the average person.

“You can take that to mean that not everyone cares about this stuff, or it could mean that most people only see the surface and that surface is currently rife with lies by journalists/media with an agenda - which is sad. I'll go with splitting those chances at 50/50.

“My few cents...

“- from someone who never comments and just wrote a short story.”

However, while Serrera may be absolutely correct in her assumption that “those of us that read and/or participate in comment forums like this one are far more engaged in this sort of rhetoric in the day to day than the average person,” that group also most likely contains the one’s who not only vote, but influence others as well.

Which is certainly something that not only helped put Trump in office, but over time will also negate the MSM’s ability to manipulate the news with false reportage. Just like Nixon’s “silent majority” went to bat for him.

That’s it for today folks.

Adios
